Referred Memberships — Becoming an Unwitting Affiliate!

Just got word from Medium that if you sign up as a member ($5/month, I think?) through my page in particular, I get a portion of your fee! It’s an interesting new move on their part, but I’m honestly surprised there wasn’t a “referrals” option before. What do you all think this will mean for Medium as a platform?
